Abstract
The static var compensator (SVC) has been widely employed in power systems to provide reactive power and maintain busbar voltages. In the paper, a study case of negative interactions among multiple SVC controllers is reported, and an analytical approach based on normal form theory is proposed for the analysis of nonlinear interactions among the multiple SVC controllers in power systems. Also, a nonlinear interaction index is developed to investigate the interactions among multiple SVC controllers. The proposed approach has been applied to a typical IEEE 4-machine 11-busbar system. The simulation results validate the proposed approach.
