Abstract
Background: Calciphylaxis is a well-known complication in end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) and haemodialysis, and is characterised by cutaneous ischaemia secondary to arteriolar calcification and thrombosis.1,2.In contrast, literature describing calciphylaxis in the absence of ESKD remains scarce. Possible causes of non-uraemic calciphylaxis include hyperparathyroidism, alcoholic liver diseases and weight loss. We present a case of non-uraemic calciphylaxis following rapid intentional weight loss, and discuss the clinical and histopathological status.
