Abstract

Recently Krey (1989) showed the nonuniqueness of interval velocity determination using the inversion method suggested by Krey (1976) and Hubral and Krey (1980). The investigated structure contains a convex spherical refractor and a horizontal reflector. The author analytically derived two velocity solutions under the spherical apex in the lower homogeneous layer. At first sight, one may suppose that the discovered nonuniqueness arises from the inversion method applied.
