Abstract

The authors have assumed the daunting task of trying to cover interventional gastrointestinal procedures in 124 pages. The scope of this subject is beyond the space allotted by the authors, but the subject matter of the book's five chapters is appropriate. Frequently encountered clinical dilemmas such gastrointestinal bleeding and enteral access are discussed. The authors' multidisciplinary approach to gastrointestinal bleeding is refreshing and parallels the changing environment in medicine. Areas of growing interest in “percutaneous medicine,” such as gastrointestinal stenting, have also been included. The book's four clinical chapters are clearly organized. Procedural considerations such as indications, contraindications, techniques, and clinical outcomes are reviewed. The final chapter of this textbook focuses on relevant peritoneal and retroperitoneal anatomy. The easy-to-read text is complimented by numerous superb radiographic examples. The quality of the publisher's paper and printing are excellent.
