Abstract

Adverse effects of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) in the colon include ulceration, strictures, various types of colitis, perforation and exacerbation of inflammatory bowel, and diverticular diseases.1-18 We report the case of a patient with an etodolac-induced obstructing colonic stricture that was successfully treated by endoscopic balloon dilatation. It was thought that completion of ulcer healing was accelerated by a course of prednisone after cessation of the NSAID use failed to do so.
