Abstract

An algorithm for the calculation of non-stationary temperature fields of rubbing bodies, with the behaviour of the surface irregularities of the contact taken into account is proposed. The equation of thermal conduction was solved by the method of Laplace and Hankel integral transformations, assuming that an axially symmetrical source of heat occurs on the peak of the contacting asperity and the distributions of surface profile heights and heights of asperities are normal distributions. The numerical results are obtained for mean dimensionless temperature for different Fourier parameters and surface roughnesses and for various loads.
