Abstract
Energy transfer from optically excited Dy3+ to Ho3+ has been observed in zinc phosphate glass. The study is primarily done by observing the decrease in emission from the 4F92 level of Dy3+ with varying Ho3+ concentration. The energy transfer mechanism is mainly found to be electric dipole-dipole in nature. Transfer probabilities, efficiencies and average donor-acceptor distances have been calculated.
