Abstract

By means of extended homogeneous balance method and variableseparation approach, quite a general variable separation solutionof the (2+1)-dimensional Broer–Kaup–Kupershmidt equation isderived. From the variable separation solution and by selectingappropriate functions, a new class of (2+1)-dimensionalnonpropagating solitary waves are found. The novel featuresexhibited by these new structures are first revealed.
