Abstract

AbstractHydrostatic pressure measurements of the threshold current of 1.3 μm compressively strained InGaAsP multiple quantum well lasers show an initial decrease up to 1.2 GPa followed by an increase at higher pressures. This behavior is explained by considering the changes in the differential gain and optical losses determined from measurements of the spontaneous emission and of the external differential efficiency as a function of pressure, respectively.
