Abstract

Non-minimal currents are constructed to describe nucleon anomalous moments, the γNN ∗ vertex and N ∗ electromagnetic moments and related effects in the chiral Lagrangian formation without upsetting current algebra and PCAC. The construction is applied to pion photoproduction. γN → Nπ is calculated, in particular the N ∗ contribution. The threshold results for γ N → N ∗π are shown to be in agreement with experiment. γN → ππN is discussed, and crtain graphs are shown to dominate the cross section.
