Abstract

The effect of exchange and correlation in the dielectric response of semiconductors is investigated in the nonlocal-density approximation. It is shown that within the framework of linearised Thomas-Fermi-Dirac theory the spatial dielectric function still has a a simple analytical form, but the screening radius of a positive point charge if further contracted.
