Abstract

Results of a self-consistent first-principles energy band calculation for Cu using an exchange-potential, which is nonlocal in the electronic density, are reported. The results are very close to recent experimental photoemission data and provide a justification for those empirical xc-parameters α between 0.7 and 0.8 which are commonly used for Cu in band calculations within the local density theory.
