Abstract

The responses of nonlinear axisymmetric free vibrations of cylindrically orthotropic thick annular plates are studied. The effects of inplane deformation and inertia, shear deformation and rotatory inertia are all included. A finite element method is utilized to formulate the basic equation of motion. Orthotropic thick annular plates with the boundary supports of free inner edge and clamped outer edge, and free inner edge and simply supported outer edge, are both considered. The effects due to shear deformation, rotatory inertia, inplane deformation and inplane inertia are investigated, and the result shows the effects of reducing frequency responses. Meanwhile, the effect due to material orthotropy on the vibrating plate shows significant changes in the frequency responses.
