Abstract

We present a first study of the low temperature magnetic correlations in a Kondo semiconductor CeNiSn by using nonlinear susceptibility (NS). Along c and b axis NS is negative and demonstrates the behaviour similar to that expected for Kondo effect. For the magnetic field applied along a-axis NS is positive and shows an evidence for a competition between gap formation and field induced magnetic transition.
