Abstract

We integrate the steady state diffusion equation in a membrane whose permeability is weakly inhomogeneous in the direction of diffusion x (i.e. a laminated membrane) and depends linearly on the activity. We show that this solution can be closely approximated by a solution in which the permeability is a product of linear factors in the activity and x. A possible application to a graded membrane is pointed out.
