Abstract

A theory is presented which is based on the Born approximation of the nonlinear scattering of microwaves from a periodically density-modulated plasma column of finite length. It has been shown quantitatively that the scattered waves produce diffraction patterns and frequency shifts; these scattered waves form a set of sidebands which are separated from the incident wave by the modulation frequency of an oscillating plasma column.
