Abstract

We numerically investigate the magneto-optical Cotton–Mouton effect inan alternating multilayer structure with a nonlinear dielectricconstant. The multistability and polarization of the transmission ofelectromagnetic field near the edges of the stop gap are studied indetail. The resonant transmission is accompanied by solitons ofintensity of the field. This investigation provides a way to select thetransmission property with different polarizations since both theamplitude and the phase of the output field can be adjusted by the inputpower and by the magneto-optical coefficient depending on the externalmagnetic field.
