Abstract

Nonlinear refractive index n 2 , of the calyces of Hibiscus Rosa-Sinensis, in aqua solution, has been measured by varying the incident laser intensity from a continuous wave (CW) Ar-ion laser. The closed aperture Z-scan technique has been used to measure n 2 with incident laser wavelengths of 457, 488 and 514 nm. The results obtained are found to be of the order of ~10−14 esu.
