Abstract

Making use of a a kinetic ion and a hydrodynamic electron description together with the Maxwell equations, we derive a set of nonlinear equations which governs the dynamics of short wavelength ion drift-Alfvén waves. It is shown that the nonlinear drift-Alfvén waves can propagate as two-dimensional solitary vortices.
