Abstract

Abstract Stress-induced shifts and splittings of resonances on the transverse polariton and longitudinal exciton branches in CuCl are studied by nonlinear optical measurements. Owing to the small linewidth, shifts and splittings are clearly resolved. Thus the deformation potentials are determined with high accuracy.
