Abstract

Optical investigations were performed for Li 2B 4O 7 single crystals doped with K and Ag. Our theoretical predictions indicate a possible increase of the nonlinear optical susceptibilities in such crystalline systems. We have revealed a dependence of the electrooptical coefficient on type and concentration of the dopant. Calculations of energy band structure and resulting linear optical parameters have been carried out for the K- and Ag-doped Li 2B 4O 7 single crystals. Increasing potassium concentration leads to a decrease of the electrooptical coefficient, while increasing silver concentration causes just an opposite effect.
