Abstract

A calculation of the $\ensuremath{\pi}\ensuremath{\pi}$ scattering amplitude based on the nonlinear $\ensuremath{\sigma}$ model, including pions and nucleons, through the one-loop approximation of perturbation theory is given. Unitary partial-wave amplitudes are obtained by constructing the first diagonal Pad\'e approximant for the perturbation series. The $s$- and $p$-wave shifts are computed and compared with recent experimental analyses.
