Abstract

The solutions obtained by Tsinganos (1982), Hu and Low (1989), and Tsinganos and Trussoni (1991) for the nonlinear coupled partial hydromagnetic equations are examined in a brief analytical review. The derivation for collimated hydromagnetic outflows is outlined, and the topologies of the solutions are presented in graphs. It is suggested that these solutions can be used in the testing and physical interpretation of numerical simulations of solar and stellar winds and astrophysical outflows and jets (based on models which account for nonspherically symmetric, MHD, and nonpolytropic phenomena). 13 refs.
