Abstract

Abstract This paper presents linear and weakly non linear analysis of magnetoconvection due to horizontal magnetic field and vertical axis of rotation due to thermal and compositional buoyancy. For linear stability analysis, the normal mode analysis is utilized to find the Rayleigh number which is the function of Rosby number, Lewis number and Ekman number. Also, the correlation between Rayleigh number and wave number is graphically analyzed. The Newell-Whitehead scheme is employed to derive two dimensional amplitude equation. The conditions for Eckhaus and Zigzag instabilities are determined. The system of coupled Landau-Ginzburg equations are derived. For Standing waves and Travelling waves, the stability regions are identified.
