Abstract

This paper presents a nonlinear missile control method for the longitudinal acceleration control of nonminimum phase missile systems with actuator dynamics. Unlike the previously proposed actuator compensator, which uses the backstepping technique and also requires information on the actual fin deflection and deflection rate, I propose a new, simple, nonlinear control scheme that can be used without such information. The proposed controller is designed in such a way that the angular rate dynamics remain stable in the presence of actuator dynamics and the missile control system can maintain the expected performance. Numerical verification as well as stability analysis was performed for the demonstration.
