Abstract

In the present paper, nonlinear interaction of high power elliptical laser beam with cold collisionless plasma is investigated by taking in to account ponderomotive nonlinearity. Nonlinear differential equations for the beam width parameters of semi-major axis and semi-minor axis of elliptical laser beam have been set up and solved numerically to study the variation of beam width parameters with normalized distance of propagation. Effects of variation in laser intensity, plasma density and plasma temperature on the beam width parameters are also analyzed.
