Abstract

Recently developed shear deformation theory is used to analyse large amplitude, flexural vibrations of laminated rectangular plates subject to in-plane forces. Single mode approach, in conjunction with the Galerkin method, is used to reduce the five coupled equilibrium equations to a single second order ordinary differential equation in time variable by ignoring certain inertia terms. This reduced equation involves quadratic and cubic nonlinearities and the solution of which is obtained by the method of Multiple Scales. Numerical results are presented in tabular form for various parameters of the rectangular plate considered.
