Abstract

The problem of the nonlinear effects of power law fluids in unsteady flow with circular streamlines is addressed. The governing equations are derived. The similarity solutions in closed form of these equations are obtained. The existence of traveling wave solutions for the distributions of tangential velocity and vorticity is shown. The cases of constant and variable angular velocity of the inner circular cylinder are considered and discussed. The presence of a moving front is found, which determines a finite velocity of disturbance propagation.
