Abstract
Dynamics of soliton-like wave packets in fibreswith a travelling refractive-index-change wave is studied. It isshown that both a soliton-like propagation regime of a pulseand a self-compression regime in the region of normal groupvelocity dispersion are possible. It is also shown that in thecase of a copropagating or counterpropagating pulse andoptically inhomogeneous wave nonreciprocal effects appear.
