Abstract

This paper describes a method for modelling nonlinear systems using operating regime decomposition. The resulting model structure is known as a local model network (LMN); it consists in the smoothly-weighted combination of a number of simple local models, each of which is valid in a particular operating regime of the plant. A software tool for modelling and identification with this approach has been developed and is described in the paper. A brief survey of applications of the regime-decomposition method is given.
