Abstract
The purpose of the paper is to demonstrate through analytical calculations that excess eddy current losses can be (at least in part) explained by the peculiar nature of nonlinear diffusion of electromagnetic fields in magnetically nonlinear conducting laminations. This peculiar nature of nonlinear diffusion leads to the breakdown of the classical “uniformity assumption” for distribution of magnetic flux density even for low frequencies, and this results in the appearance of excess eddy current losses.
