Abstract

Following the development of backstepping design methodology for a class of continuous-time nonlinear systems, the main attention is shifted to the backstepping control design of discrete-time strict-feedback nonlinear systems in this paper. A step-by-step systematic design procedure, which is analogous to the backstepping scheme in continuous-time systems, is developed to guarantee the stability of the resulting closed-loop system in discrete-time cases. The results show that the discrete-time backstepping control design is not only to globally stabilize the plant, but also to drive the system output to zero asymptotically.
