Abstract

This paper deals with the modelling of nonlinear consolidation phenomena in a homogenous clay characterized by drainage conditions varying with time, at the surface and bottom of the layer and with soil properties changing from over to normal consolidation regimes. Some simulations are developed to visualize the main features of the consolidation process. A critical analysis, which gives special attention to research perspectives, concludes this paper.
