Abstract

The general, non-linear equations of motion of viscoelastic, damped sandwich plates and cylindrical panels are derived using the principle of virutal work. The effects of transverse shear deformation and rotatory inertia of each layer are included in the equations of motion. A Runge-Kutta method is employed to obtain numerical results. Dissipated energy is studied to investigate the effects of curvature radius, material properties and thickness of each layer on the damping properties of sandwich plates and cylindrical panels.
