Abstract
In this paper, the response of a rigid pile under a combined load on a cohesionless soil slope is investigated. The ultimate soil resistance in front of piles varies nonlinearly with depth, while both the ultimate soil resistance behind piles and the subgrade reaction modulus vary linearly with depth. The expressions of ultimate soil resistance behind and in front of the pile and the subgrade reaction modulus are determined. In addition, the variation law of the modulus of the subgrade reaction with relative density is also considered. Based on the balance between force and moment, the balance equation of a soil-pile system is derived, and a nonlinear analysis method of a rigid pile under a combined load on a cohesionless soil slope is proposed. The feasibility of this method is verified by the experimental results.
