Abstract

This paper proposed a non-isolated bidirectional dc-dc converter with high step-up/down voltage gain. This converter has the ability to transfer the energy in both directions. The proposed converter uses three inductors that are coupled together pairwise with same winding turns. In step-up mode; the inductors operate in parallel in charging mode and series in discharging mode. In step-down mode; the inductors operate in series to be charged and parallel to be discharged. The proposed converter has higher step-up and step-down voltage gains than the conventional bidirectional dc-dc boost/buck converter. Simulations are obtained by using PSCAD/EMTDC software and the results are presented. Finally, a laboratory prototype is implemented to validate theoretical analysis.
