Abstract

A 77-year-old man had a past medical history of hypertension and mitral valve replacement by biological prosthesis. He complained about pain in the left upper part of the abdomen lasting for 1 month. Examination revealed a large spleen. Magnetic resonance imaging showed a gross mass occupying almost the entire spleen with a predominance of liquid component with no suspicious lymphadenopathy (Figure I). Splenectomy was performed via an upper midline incision extended in left subcostal incision. Intraoperatively, the mass was white, occupying almost the entire spleen.
