Abstract

Kondo effect and quantum critical behavior in the pseudoternary system of CeCoGe 3− x Si x ( x≃1.2) have been studied down to about 0.1 K. The antiferromagnetism is suppressed near x=1.2 by the enhanced Kondo effect and an intermediate-valence regime with a very high Kondo temperature of the order of 900 K is followed further on in the silicon-rich region. Non-Fermi liquid-like behavior around the critical concentration, the ln T -dependence of C/ T in the intermediate temperature ranges and the T-linear electrical resistivity have been investigated in some detail.
