Abstract

We have investigated sorption dynamics of sulfuric acid by the weakly basic polyacryl anion exchangers Purolite A845 in the form of a free base within a wide range of filtration rates. It has been proved that under hydrodynamic conditions characteristic of operating OH filters of the first stage internal diffusion is the limiting stage of sulfuric acid sorption. The process is satisfactorily described by the asymptotic solution of the interdynamic model of sorption dynamics. It has been found that the value of the kinetic coefficient of internal mass transfer in sorption of sulfuric acid exceeds a similar characteristic in sorption of hydrochloric acid.
