Abstract

In this research and development (R&D) note, we derive new expressions to calculate the nonequilibrium composition curve maps for reactive separation processes incorporating mass transfer effects. The strategy to solve the differential algebraic equation (DAE) system to find the nonequilibrium reactive mole fraction curves is discussed and illustrated for the methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) and tertiary amyl methyl ether (TAME) synthesis problems.
