Abstract

The non-equilibrium dynamics of fluctuations is studied in the vicinity of the QCD critical point. The fluctuations are described by a system of coupled Bolzmann and Langevin equations for a particle distribution function and a critical field, or “soft mode”, respectively. As an example, the formalism is applied to derive the relationship between the fluctuations observed at kinetic freezeout and the critical fluctuations at chemical freezeout in the vicinity of the QCD critical point.
