Abstract

AgCr, AgMn, AgFe and AgCo alloys were produced by a sputter-deposition method. Wide ranges of primary solid solutions were formed on water-cooled substrates, although the equilibrium phase diagrams of these alloys are immiscible except for AgMn. In AgFe alloys, the single-phase body-centered cubic (b.c.c.) and face-centred cubic (f.c.c.) regions were greatly extended on liquid-nitrogen-cooled substrates. The phase boundaries of silver-rich f.c.c. phases are roughly consistent with the results estimated from the classical elastic model.
