Abstract

By using the double inverse scattering method, the problem of how to find new soliton solutions of the stationary axisymmetric vacuum field equation is studied. It is found that, for some kinds of seed solutions, the scattering wave functions can be directly obtained. Some examples of application are given. Similar results in the cylindrically symmetric case are also discussed.
