Abstract
ABSTRACT A series of Non-Destructive testing and Measuring units are applied in Integrated Steel Manufacture – China Steel Corporation (CSC) in Taiwan, Republic of China. Non-destructive testing and Measuring techniques are ultrasonic, eddy current, magnetic particles, and radiographic techniques as well as optical and thermographic method, which are not only for the inspection of end products, but also for previous production stages. According to the different shapes of the products and the types of the defects, from the iron making to the cold-rolled strips, various test or measure methods of the automated non-destructive testing are used for product defects or sizes. Concerning productivity and quality control, CSC unremitingly renews equipments and NDT systems to increase the levels of automation, expand production capacity, reduce manpower to lower production cost, and uncompromise quality control.
