Abstract
Nondestructive testing (NDT) is the only means for assessment of steel wire ropes in terms of local faults (LF) and loss in metallic area (LMA). Four track ropes (locked coil construction) and two haulage ropes (stranded construction) in a zigback passenger cable car system have been studied for a period of seven years. An attempt has been made in this paper to focus on the main outcome and behavior of in-situ condition of ropes in aerial ropeways.
