Abstract

Two recent efforts addressing the automated noncontact inspection of both small and large parts is discussed. Also included is a discussion of some of the processes developed to assist in data collection and analysis—uncertainty of implied surfaces, row and row-column filtering for removing edge noise, classification of edges, convolution and Sobel filters for edge detection, and data collection considerations for large point clouds.
