Abstract
This paper introduces a three parameter regression count model although involving confluent hypergeometric function (CHF). It has some benefits over classical Poisson (P) and negative binomial (NB) model as an up to mark model for data with excess zeros and displaying over-dispersion. The regression coefficient estimators have been estimated by the method of Maximum Likelihood (ML). Deviance (D) statistic has been used to assess the goodness of fit. Ultimately, an application to the count of number of articles published in the year 2013-15 by Covenant University, Ota, Ogun state Nigeria has been considered to explicate the potentiality of the proposed model.
