Abstract

Results are presented from a study of nonaxial segregation in large forging ingots that differ in their geometry and the method used to cast them. It is established that increasing the rates of crystallization processes in the ingots by changing the shape of their bottom part or inoculating the metal stream during the casting operation leads to significant changes in the parameters that characterize the location and geometric characteristics of the segregation stringers formed in the ingots.
