Abstract

We adapt the semi-classical formalism developed in part. I to a theory of the polarized emission from KI:T1. In the emission data of Shimada and Ishiguro two distinct depolarization processes are discerned. The theory treats tunnelling and barrier jumps between minima of the potential surfaces of the system. Using also the transmission-coefficient method and taking account of the depolarization during relaxation we point out several possibilities for explaining the temperature dependence of the linear polarization.
