Abstract
The model of the stochastic vacuum is applied in order to evaluate soft high energy hadron-hadron scattering. The parameters determined from hadron spectroscopy and lattice gauge calculations allow to calculate high energy total and elastic cross sections. The same mechanism which leads to confinement gives rise to a string-string interaction in high energy scattering.
